InterContinental Hotels Group announced Even Hotels, a new upper midscale brand geared toward health-conscious travelers.
Rooms will incorporate such fitness features as coat racks that double as pull-up bars, and properties will offer fully equipped gyms, onsite fitness advisory services and nutritious menus. IHG during the next three years will invest $150 million to develop the brand and within five years expects contracts for 100 hotels, mostly in the United States. The company said it would announce the first location by the end of June and open the first property at the beginning of 2013.
