Hotel bookings in North America through global distribution systems during the second quarter increased 2.7 percent year over year,
according to TravelClick's North American Distribution Review. The growth rate was higher than hotel direct bookings (up 0.3 percent) and central reservation systems (down 1.7 percent) but lower than hotel brand websites (up 6.9 percent) and online travel agencies (up 12.8 percent). The average daily rate on GDS bookings during the second quarter was up 4 percent year over year, a larger percentage than all channels except OTAs. ADR on bookings through GDSs in the third quarter currently is trending 4.7 percent higher than the third quarter of 2013.
