Committed hotel occupancy in North America from September 2014 through August 2015 is up 4.4 percent year over year,
and the average daily rate on those reservations is up 4.1 percent, according to TravelClick data that examined group sales commitments and individual reservations in 25 major hotel markets in the region. Transient business committed occupancy is up 7.3 percent with a 5 percent increase in ADR, and group occupancy is up 3.3 percent with a 1.8 percent ADR increase. TravelClick senior vice president of global product management John Hach in a statement noted that group business has been particularly strong in the third quarter this year, with a 7.1 percent increase in reserved occupancy and a 3.4 percent increase in ADR. "It will be interesting to see [whether] this segment growth becomes a positive trend or [whether] it will flatten out over time," Hach said. "Regardless, September is netting out to be an extremely strong month across the board."
