A 2010 Amex forecast called for hotel rate changes ranging from modest year-over-year reductions to modest increases.

Mid-range hotel rates on average would decrease up to 3 percent globally and as much as 4 percent in North America, but increase as much as 6 percent in Asia-Pacific, according to American Express Business Travel. The company projected upper-range hotel rates would fall about 4 percent globally, and as much as 6 percent in North America and Latin America, but rise by as much as 6 percent in Asia-Pacific.
