Oneworld airline alliance members Qantas and Malaysia Airlines have launched a codeshare partnership, the carriers announced Wednesday.
Malaysia Airlines will place its code on 18 Qantas-operated domestic routes across Australia, while Qantas will place its code on Malaysia Airlines flights between Kuala Lumpur and Australia as well as on flights to Singapore and Malaysian destinations including Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Langkawi and Penang.
The agreement comes as Malaysia Airlines plans an expansion in the Australian market later this year. The carrier is set to resume service to Brisbane on Nov. 29 with five weekly flights, and also plans to increase services to Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Adelaide, according to the airline.
