Delta Air Lines and Latam Airlines Group plan to begin codesharing within the first quarter of 2020 pending regulatory approval, the carriers announced. The codesharing, in advance of the joint venture agreement Delta and Latam announced earlier this year, will include Latam flights in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru and cover up to 74 destinations in the U.S. and 51 in South America, according to Delta. The carriers have not announced specifics on airports or flights involved in codesharing. They also are working to expand codesharing to other South American countries, including Chile and Brazil, next year as well as reciprocal frequent flyer benefits. Additionally, Latam is considering expediting its departure from Oneworld, which it previously said would happen by September 2020, but it still will keep bilateral agreements with most Oneworld members. Latam's codeshares with American Airlines, however, will end on Feb. 1.
