Brussels Airlines will start or resume service to 43 destinations throughout the spring and summer, including its first flights across the North Atlantic in more than a year, the carrier announced. With those routes added, the carrier will serve a total of 79 destinations.
For the past six months, Brussels' network has focused mainly on "essential travel" to and from Africa, and beginning in May, it will begin to restart service to several European destinations as well as additional African destinations. Service will still focus largely on the leisure market and for travelers visiting friends and relatives.
Service to Washington, D.C., and New York is scheduled to restart June 14, which will be the carrier's first flights to the region since March 21, 2020. Brussels also plans to restart service to Montreal on June 15 but might have to delay depending on travel restrictions to Canada.
In Africa, Brussels is increasing several routes to daily frequencies, including Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire; Accra, Ghana; Banjul, the Gambia; Dakar, Senegal; Douala and Yaoundé, Cameroon; Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo; and Entebbe, Uganda. Brussels also will restart service to Luanda, Angola, on June 15 for the first time in more than a year.
New destinations include Frankfurt, to start service on Aug. 2, as well as service to Bordeaux, France, and Tangier, Nador and Al Hoceima in Morocco, starting in late June.
