Air Canada and Italy's ITA Airways on July 21 will expand their codeshare agreement to include 10 additional cities in each carrier's network, Air Canada announced Monday.
Air Canada will place its code on the following routes operated by ITA Airways from Rome Fiumicino airport: Lamezia Terme, Palermo, Catania, Florence and Bari in Italy; Cairo, Egypt; Tunis, Tunisia; Algiers, Algeria; Tirana, Albania; and Tel Aviv, Israel, which currently is temporarily suspended.
ITA Airways will place its code on the following routes operated by Air Canada from Toronto Pearson airport: Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and St. John's in Canada; and on select service between Canada and the United States, including Boston, Orlando, Dallas and Fort Lauderdale.
Lufthansa, which has a joint venture with Air Canada and United Airlines, in January closed a deal to acquire a 41 percent stake in ITA Airways, and in February began to integrate the Italy-based carrier into the larger Lufthansa Group. ITA Airways also is in the process of joining Star Alliance.
