MasterCard has upgraded its web-based Smartdata expense
management tool, adding receipt upload functionality and policy control
features.
MasterCard has beefed up the electronic routing process from
the payment tool to expense reports, senior vice president and group head of
global commercial payments Rob Reeves said, and enabled expense managers to add
controls and policy flags to the report.
"If your policy forbids minibars, for example, and a
minibar expense is populated on the expense report, it will be flagged to your
manager and you," Reeves said. "Our features are built on having a
strong, automated expense reporting process with rich information and policy
controls."
The upgraded version also enables travelers to upload
receipt images into reports in lieu of mailing paper receipts.
Also new is integration with MasterCard's InControl tool,
through which companies can set up single-use accounts. "With virtual card
numbers, a lot of information can come around those transactions," Reeves
said. "Now these can be paired with the master account."
