Travelport and Japan Airlines are forming a joint venture to combine the Travelport Japan K.K. platform and JAL's Axess International Network into a unified brand, Travelport Axess. Travel agents still will get services through the Axess global distribution system platform and now will be able to access to Travelport's Apollo and Galileo GDS platforms through the JV. They plan to provide "online, mobile and corporate travel propositions, including global booking and expense management tools, as well as access to New Distribution Capability content." Travelport has had technology collaboration arrangements with Axess since 2012. The JV, expected to form on June 1, will be majority held by Travelport. Integration between Travelport Japan and Axess will be gradual and begin later in the year.
