Travelport CEO Greg Webb will step down from his position at the end of March, and the travel technology company's COO and deputy CEO, John Mangelaars, will step into the role on April 1, the company announced.
Webb has led Travelport since 2019, when he succeeded former CEO Gordon Wilson following a long career at Sabre, including serving as president of Sabre Travel Network. He will remain on Travelport's board of directors after leaving the CEO position.
Mangelaars joined Travelport as COO a little more than a year ago, succeeding COO and deputy CEO John Elieson. He previously was CEO of global travel search engine Skyscanner and also was CEO of online travel agency Travix International.
"His deep expertise in technology and proven ability to revolutionize travel platforms makes him the ideal leader for Travelport's next chapter," Travelport board chairman John Swainson said in a statement.
In a memo sent out Monday morning, Webb said that "the transition has been carefully planned to ensure stability for our customers and partners" and that Mangelaars "is already deeply involved in leading operational activities and strategic planning."
