Airline content aggregator TPConnects Technologies has integrated Model Context Protocol within its Astra New Distribution Capability platform, which the company said enables the platform to act as a "universal adapter layer" for the various versions of NDC.
The MCP layer in Astra NDC provides a single integration point for all NDC versions and schema variations and can connect airline systems to AI agents. That allows easier integration for travel sellers, rather than having to create a specialized solution for each airline and schema variation, according to TPConnects.
It also has automated version management, which avoids the need for lengthy manual engineering for version upgrades, the company said.
"We're not just solving today's integration complexity," TPConnects Technologies co-founder and chief technology officer Praveen Kumar said in a statement. "We're building the architectural foundation that will power AI agents, autonomous booking systems and retailing experiences we haven't yet imagined."
TPConnects said the MCP layer is available now after a "successful proof-of-concept validation."
