Air Canada has agreed to participate in a blockchain-based travel distribution platform under development by Winding Tree. The carrier will integrate Air Canada's direct connect application programming interface with Winding Tree's public blockchain platform, "giving blockchain-savvy users the ability to access our content directly from the source," according to Air Canada director of global product distribution Keith Wallis. Air Canada is the first North American airline to work with Winding Tree, though others around the world already have announced partnerships. This month, Air France-KLM announced an agreement to test and provide feedback on the technology. Last year, Lufthansa Group and Air New Zealand also agreed to be partners.
