BTN estimates U.S.-originating air volume at Siemens grew to $92.5 million in 2025, boosted by two major acquisitions. In March 2025, Siemens bought Michigan-based industrial simulation and analysis software company Altair for $10 billion. Four months later it purchased Boston-based life sciences research and development software provider Dotmatics for $5.1 billion.
Siemens had 318,000 employees worldwide as of September 2025, the end of its financial year. Although 58 percent of the workforce was based in Europe, 23 percent were based in Asia-Pacific and 14 percent in the United States. Revenue in the year to September 2025 rose 6 percent year over year on a comparable basis to €78.9 billion. Investment in R&D grew by €511 million to €6.6 billion.
Siemens’ business travel in 2025 generated of 214,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, down from 221,000 metric tons the year prior.
Siemens has introduced internal carbon pricing of €75 per metric ton on air bookings by in Switzerland. According to BCD, the application of carbon pricing at point of sale had raised €25,000 in its first three months to be invested in alternative aviation fuel, and had also made Siemens employees more aware of their carbon footprint.
