2025 U.S.-Booked Air Volume: $41 M
Major League Baseball enters the BTN Corporate Travel 100 for the first time this year at No. 91. BTN estimates the MLB spent $41 million in U.S.-originating air volume in 2025. Much of MLB's travel is coordinated on charter flights, buses and hotels—and utilizes premium services to accommodate intense and unpredictable athlete and umpire travel schedules, and also accounts for critical rest to support player performance. Equipment transfer is another unique component of MLB travel.
The MLB generated $12.1 billion in revenue for 2025, with 15 franchises each in the American and National leagues. The average franchise value is $2.9 million. Major revenue streams for the league include national and local media rights, ticket sales and corporate sponsorships.
Major League Baseball's central organization and the commissioner's office directly employ roughly 4,500 people. Including all the franchises and workers, that explodes to approximately 35,000.
