BTN estimates the global pharmaceutical
giant spent $42 million in U.S.-originating airfares in 2024. The company increased
total revenue by more than 30 percent in 2024, reaching more than $45 billion.
Lilly has set a goal to reduce its Scope 1
and Scope 2 emissions by 2030 and began tracking Scope 3—including business
travel emissions—in 2023. A breakdown of the company’s 2024 Scope 3 emissions
was not available at the time of publication.
At the end of 2024 the company employed
47,000 people—4,000 more than the previous year—including approximately 25,000
employees outside the U.S.
In response to proposed tariffs on
pharmaceutical imports by the Trump administration, Lilly earlier this year
announced plans to invest $27 billion to build four new manufacturing
facilities in the U.S. over the next five years.
