United Airlines plans to reduce domestic mainline capacity by 9 percent during 2008
Citing fuel costs, , following a 5 percent cut at the end of 2007. The reduction includes removal of 30 narrowbody aircraft from the fleet, at least double the amount announced last month. In announcing a $537 million net loss for the first quarter, CEO Glenn Tilton said, "The path to sustainable profitability requires us to fundamentally overhaul every facet of our business."
