United Airlines parent UAL Corp. posted a third-quarter operating profit excluding one-time items of $123 million
, reversing a $150 million loss from a year earlier. Including losses related to fuel hedging and other charges, the company's quarterly net loss was $57 million, better than a $792 million net loss a year earlier. Passenger revenue declined 20 percent.
