United Airlines announced today that it will cease operations at New York City’s John F. Kennedy airport as of Oct. 25.
The airline is doubling down at its Newark Liberty International hub, where it has plowed $2 billion into Terminal C to date and plans to redo the terminal's lobby and redesign United Club locations at the airport. Also on Oct. 25, United will introduce its Premium Service to all regularly scheduled Newark-Los Angeles and Newark-San Francisco flights, offering flatbed seats in BusinessFirst class and other amenities associated with international routes. Pending regulatory approval of two separate transactions, Delta Air Lines will take over United’s slots at JFK and United will acquire slots from Delta in Newark.
