US Airways reported a fourth-quarter net profit of $18 million,
down from $28 million a year earlier. Its full-year 2011 result also
was lower than 2010, a net profit of $71 million versus $502 million. The
company cited higher fuel costs for the declining profits. On the revenue side,
the airline posted fourth-quarter and full-year records for passenger revenue
(up 9.7 percent in the fourth quarter to $2.8 billion), total revenue,
passenger revenue per available seat and passenger yield.
