US Airways on Wednesday reported its first fourth-quarter profit since 2006, netting $28 million, compared with a net loss of $79 million for the same three months in 2009
. US Airways reported a $502 million net profit for 2010, compared with a $205 million net loss in 2009. Aided by "a modestly improving economy and continued industry capacity discipline," US Airways reported fourth-quarter revenue per available seat mile increased 6 percent year over year, due in part to an 11 percent increase in passenger yield.
