US Airways Group posted a fourth-quarter net loss of $541 million

Including special charges totaling $321 million--most of which related to losses on fuel hedge contracts-- versus a $79 million net profit a year earlier. The full-year 2008 loss swelled to $2.21 billion following a $427 million profit in 2007. Excluding one-time items, the company's 2008 net loss was $803 million.
