This year's second attempt at a domestic U.S. airfare price hike failed over the weekend
, according to FareCompare CEO Rick Seaney. Continental Airlines on April 17 led the effort, which gained some competitive matching before some airlines began rolling back the increase. "I wouldn't be surprised to see a airfare hike success in the near future, as legacy airlines try ticking up the base airline ticket price by a relatively small amount," Seaney wrote on his Web site.
