The third-quarter average airfare paid by corporate travelers in domestic North American markets was $215, according to Amex.
That is up slightly from the second quarter ($212) but down substantially from the third quarter of 2008 ($253). It marked the lowest third-quarter average airfare American Express Business Travel has reported since at least 2006. Amex noted that average airfare in October was $219.
