The U.S. General Services Administration awarded most of its Airline City Pairs Program contracts for fiscal year 2012 to United Airlines, Delta Air Lines and American Airlines
setting "average federal rates at 70 percent below full commercial airfares," effective Oct. 1, 2011, according to a GSA statement. Thirteen carriers--including Sun Country Airlines, added for a single route--are included in the program, which allows "federal travelers the flexibility to book one-way, multi-leg and roundtrip airfare at the lowest cost possible while retaining the ability to adjust or cancel flights at no additional cost to the government," according to GSA. In 2012, the program will cover more than 4,300 U.S. and nearly 1,800 international city pairs and save taxpayers an estimated $7.4 billion, GSA said.
