The U.S. Department of Transportation doubled "the limits on compensation airlines must pay flyers bumped from oversold flights
." The rule takes effect next month and will require airlines to pay those involuntarily bumped as much as $800. The compensation will be $400 for passengers who reach their destination within two hours of original arrival time.
