The Guild of Travel Management Companies for the second quarter reported year-over-year sales increases for air, car rental and rail transactions
(2 percent, 6 percent and 14 percent, respectively). "Sales of other services, which include consultancy services, ferries, visas, currency exchange and meet and greet, are 10 percent ahead of the same quarter in 2011," according to GTMC, which noted that hotel sales were "static." GTMC chief executive Anne Godfrey concluded that business conducted by the group's members "seems to be slightly better than that being reported elsewhere. Whilst not spectacular, these figures show that, with caution, things are better than may have been expected."
