The Federal Aviation Administration fined Continental Airlines and American Airlines subsidiary American Eagle $275,000 and $330,000, respectively, for maintenance lapses
. FAA alleged that Continental installed incorrect landing gear on two Boeing 737-900ER aircraft that were operated on 73 flights. FAA also alleged that American Eagle mechanics failed to note broken passenger seats on two aircraft that could not be properly stowed for takeoffs and landings. The airlines have 30 days to respond.
