The European Commission concluded that Delta Air Lines' acquisition of Northwest Airlines "would not significantly impede effective competition
in the European Economic Area." The merger still is being reviewed by the U.S. Department of Justice and will be subject to a vote by each company's stockholders. Delta and Northwest said they expect the transaction to be finalized by year-end.
