Southwest Airlines regained the top spot in the U.S. airline monthly ontime ranking with an 87.2 percent punctuality rate for November 2008
, according to government statistics. Northwest Airlines slid to second among major carriers. Delta Air Lines ranked last. The industry overall posted November ontime performance of 83.3 percent, below the October 2008 figure of 86 percent but above November 2007's 80 percent.
