Southwest Airlines agreed to acquire AirTran Airways parent AirTran Holdings
. Southwest would purchase "all" outstanding AirTran stock for about $1.4 billion in cash and Southwest common stock. Already approved by both companies' boards, the deal is subject to regulatory approval and other closing conditions.
