Premium air traffic in May grew nearly 10 percent worldwide year over year, according to IATA

, while economy traffic rose nearly 6 percent. Year-over-year traffic growth was stronger in April, but IATA attributed that "entirely to the distortion caused by the volcanic ash cloud last year." IATA called May traffic levels "encouraging signs that air travel has been picking up in the second quarter after a disappointing first quarter."
