Northwest Airlines will roll back minimum-stay requirements announced last week "for routes in common with US Airways
" since US Airways "did not adopt a similar policy." Northwest added a one-night minimum stay requirement on many domestic fares that previously had no such requirement, and added another day to the minimum-stay requirements on many fares that previously required a one- or two-day minimum. "Without widespread acceptance of these kinds of revenue enhancements, including very strategic segmentation of fares, we cannot sustain the increases across the board and remain competitive," said senior vice president of revenue management Jim Cron. "We will continue to look for other ways to increase revenues, in light of these record fuel costs."
