Most large U.S. carriers matched a "major" Delta Air Lines fare sale
, according to airfare watcher FareCompare. FareCompare said Delta reduced 7-day advance purchase fares by an average of $281 for roundtrips through mid-December, representing "the largest single fare sale this year."
