Iberia Airlines will halve travel agency commissions in Venezuela to 3 percent next month and look to enact similar measures in other markets
, a company official confirmed. "Regarding other Latin American markets, the general tendency is to reduce commissions, since fares are going down too, but it will depend a lot on what competitors do in every country," the official said. According to published reports, Air France, Alitalia and Lufthansa also plan to reduce commissions in Venezuela. Iberia also said it would enact a "Zero Commission" program in Spain in "the near future," the official noted.
