EasyJet on 16 Feb 2007 will significantly expand operations at Madrid Barajas airport
. Describing Madrid as its "17th base and the first in Spain," EasyJet will add "several" new routes to complement existing service to nine European cities. "While Madrid is one of Europe’s largest and most important capital cities, it is still under-served by low-fares airlines," said CEO Andy Harrision.
