Domestic U.S. airline passenger yield in December declined by 3.9 percent
year over year to 14.13 cents per mile, marking the largest monthly decrease since March 2005, according to the Air Transport Association. Defined as the "average price someone pays to fly one mile excluding government taxes and fees," yield also decreased on Atlantic routes by 6 percent, the largest monthly decline since March 2002, and on Pacific routes by 0.3 percent. Yield on Latin American routes increased 3.3 percent from a year earlier.
