Delta in September will begin expanding New York JFK's Terminal 4 to replace "the antiquated space the airline now occupies in Terminal 3" for international operations
, according to the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. Delta expects to start shifting operations to the new facility in May 2013. The project will include nine new international gates, a connector to Delta's domestic operation in Terminal 2 and expanded baggage claim and customs areas. Terminal 3 is scheduled for demolition in May 2015 to make room for additional aircraft parking.
