DOT proposed several new air travel consumer protections including required disclosure of bag fees and greater compensation for being involuntarily bumped from a flight.

Other proposed rules require airlines to fairly advertise prices and "allow passengers to make and cancel reservations within 24 hours without penalty." The U.S. Department of Transportation also proposed to expand tarmac delaydata and contingency plan regulations to include foreign airlines' operations at U.S. airports and domestic carriers at "small- and non-hub airports." DOT said it would accept for 60 days public comments on the proposed regulations.
