Continental Airlines swung to a $236 million third-quarter loss
from a $241 million profit a year earlier. Excluding one-time items, the company's net loss was $145 million. Fuel costs increased $606 million year over year and Hurricane Ike's adverse effects on Continental's Houston hub operations were estimated at $50 million.
