Continental Airlines and United Airlines announced the leadership team for the combined carrier under CEO Jeff Smisek following a proposed merger

. Current Continental chief marketing officer Jim Compton would retain that title for the merged airline while current United head of sales Jeff Foland would lead the combined loyalty program. The airlines did not detail plans for senior sales leaders. United also announced that president John Tague, CFO Kathryn Mikells and Mileage Plus president Graham Atkinson would leave the company after the merger closes.
