Competitors matched Southwest Airlines' recent move to again raise fares--this time by as much as $10 one way
--according to J.P. Morgan Securities analyst Jamie Baker. Baker said the fare hike pushed Southwest's refundable fare cap to $319. "Southwest’s full-court press for higher fares is a phenomenon we expect to continue for many years (absent a precipitous decline in crude prices)," Baker wrote in a research note.
