Calyon Securities analyst Ray Neidl predicted a $142 million first-quarter loss for the airline industry
, "slightly higher than our initial expectations." Neidl also predicted full-year industry profits of $5.9 billion in 2007 and $6.5 billion in 2008. "Forward demand appears to be strong, which will give airlines the ability to further tighten yield management and raise prices," he wrote in a recent research note.
