British Airways reported a pre-tax profit of £289 million
(US$579 million) for the quarter ended 30 June, up from £191 million (US$383 million) a year earlier. Passenger revenue dropped nearly 2 percent to £1.9 billion (U$3.8 billion) due to "the continued impact of security and baggage restrictions on short-haul and premium transfer traffic, which Heathrow has been struggling to cope with," and a weaker U.S. dollar which "has also affected our U.S. business." Overall demand for business and first class, however, "remains strong."
