British Airways reported a pre-tax profit of 195 million pounds
for the fiscal first quarter ended 30 June, up 57 percent from a year earlier. The carrier cited "record seat factors and better cabin mix." Low-cost carrier Ryanair posted "record" profits for its quarter ended 30 June on total revenue growth of 40 percent. In Asia, Japan's ANA said quarterly net profits more than tripled, due in part to "strong demand for international business travel," while Singapore Airlines cited "record" quarterly traffic for a group net profit that more than doubled.
