British Airways ordered 12 Airbus A380s and 24 Boeing B787s
, with options for a combined 25 additional long-range jets, representing its largest order in nearly a decade. As the world's largest passenger aircraft, the A380s will "provide more capacity for the airline's key high-density markets and maximize use of scarce [London] Heathrow slots." The B787s will be used "to start new routes and increase frequencies in existing markets."
