British Airways on April 8 will raise its fuel surcharge for the third time in less than four months

. The new surcharges apply only to long-haul flights, with economy and premium-economy tickets rising by £10 per sector and first and business class by £20 per sector. As an example, the fuel surcharge (for which corporate discounts are not applicable) on a business-class return ticket between London and New York will climb £40 to £250. "We will bear the vast majority of the recent fuel price rise ourselves to keep this increase in surcharge to a minimum," according to BA CFO Nick Swift.
