British Airways at London Heathrow Airport experienced flight delays and other disruptions as it began operations Thursday in the new Terminal 5
. The airline cited problems with baggage handling and car parking areas, as well as other "computer glitches." According to a statement today by BA CEO Willie Walsh, "Yesterday was definitely not British Airways' finest hour. ... I would expect some disruption tomorrow, but I think it will get better every day as we become accustomed to the building and the quirks of the systems." For today, BA said it would operate "80 percent" of its scheduled flights from the new Terminal 5, "including all long-haul services."
