British Airways, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Lufthansa each announced higher passenger fuel surcharges
Citing record oil prices, that take effect this week. The higher BA fees include £10 (US$20.91) per short-haul flight, £48 (US$100.36) for each mid-range flight and £58 (US$121.26) on flights of longer than nine hours. Lufthansa raised its long-haul flight surcharge to €77 (US$113.06). Surcharges for the German carrier's shorter flights are unchanged. KLM raised the fuel fee for European flights to €27 and for intercontinental flights to €80 (US$117.46).
