American Airlines "raised the majority" of its domestic one-way fares by $5

, according to J.P. Morgan Securities analyst Jamie Baker. Baker in a research note suggested a "high probability" of competitive matching by network carriers, given recent jet fuel price increases. If the American-led fare hike holds, it would become the seventh "broad" pricing increase of 2007 in 12 attempts, Baker wrote.
